BOOK & FILM CLUB

What should you read next? Join other literary enthusiasts at our Book & Film Club. Whether you're after stimulating conversation about your favourite novels and movies or just a means to fuel your love of books, you can combine reading and screenings with wine, chatter and textual analysis. Typically covering a wide range of international books and films, and tapping into the Hong Kong International Literary Festival. Every quarter will be a film screening at a different location.

When: Every third Tuesday of each month starting September 2022, ending May 2023
Where: Australian Association HQ, 18A Gee Chang Hong Centre, 65 Wong Chuk Hang Road, Wong Chuk Hang

Cost: Free, small charge per person for film screenings every quarter

Time: 7:00pm

CHARITY WORK

The Australian Association has a long history of supporting charitable causes in Hong Kong. From raising urgently needed funds to rolling up our sleeves and pitching-in, we can help the community in which we live by contributing directly.

Please contact the President for information on how you can help up to contribute. 

Cooee Coffee

Cooee Coffee is our casual coffee morning get together, perfect for both newcomers to Hong Kong and also to catch up with old friends. No need to book, just turn up and enjoy some great coffee, maybe a treat and a chat. Hosted by Jakki Vella, a volunteer, there will always be someone to meet and greet and introduce you to others if it’s your first visit.

If you have particular questions about life in Hong Kong, we’ll be able to help answer them or at least point you in the right direction.

When: Every Friday (except public holidays)
Where: Oolaa Petite, Shop 2 Tower 2 Starcrest, 9 Star Street, Wan Chai
Cost: Free, just turn up

KOWLOON Koffee

Kowloon Koffee is our casual coffee morning get together in TST. Perfect for both newcomers to Hong Kong and to catch up with old friends. Hosted by Samta and volunteers, no need to book, just turn up and enjoy some great coffee and a chat. There will always be someone to meet and greet and introduce you to others if it’s your first visit.

When: Second & fourth Wednesday each month
Where: Le Pain Quotidien, Tsim Sha Tsui Centre, Shop G38, G/F, 66 Mody Road, TST.
Cost: Free just turn up
Time: 10:30 am - 12:00pm

MAH JONG

Want to learn or just love it? Come and  play social Mah Jong, the ancient Chinese tile game

When: Every Monday (except public holidays)
Where: Dynasty Court Function Room, 17-23 Old Peak Rd, Mid-level

Time: 10:00AM - 1:00PM

NETBALL

The OZ Hong Kong Netball has been running for over a decade now. We are a social club with the aim to win while having a bit of fun. This year we have three teams play in the Hong Kong Netball Association League; Magpies, Geckos and Cockatoos. This is another great way to get to know more of our members who will welcome you with open friendly arms.

TENNIS

Socialize with a hit and a giggle or if you want a ‘workout’ that can happen too. The requirements are Enthusiasm’, a tennis racket’, workout clothes and the WANT to hit a ball...preferably over the net. You need to be available Tuesday morning from 9am until 11am. This is a great way to get to know more people, especially if you are new to Hong Kong!

Location: Victoria Park Tennis Centre, 1 Hing Fat Street, Causeway Bay. (Google Maps)
Time: From 9-11 AM on most Tuesdays 
(except Public Holidays)
Cost: The cost is $40 for members, $60 for non-members (whether you play 1 or 2 hours, the fee is the same). Priority for members to play.

Final Friday Long LUNCH

The Final Friday Long Lunch is designed to provide an opportunity for members, trailing spouses and friends to get together over lunch on a monthly basis - the last Friday of every month. It’s open to anyone – “trailing” or otherwise – to come along and have a meal and / or a drink and talk about nothing in particular and enjoy the company.

Lunch will be held at Trafalgar, 54-62 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai on the final Friday of each month.

Hosted by a General Committee Member,  held on the first Thursday of every month, Sundowners is great for those new to Hong Kong and would like to know more about the Australian Association of Hong Kong, make new friends or catch up with long time friends.
